My Experience

My professional contributions range from investment analysis in the FinTech sector to finance and commodities trading. Below are some of my responsibilities and achievements.

June 2022 - Present

Novae 

 

I originally joined the Novae Team as a summer intern and now continue to work with them in a part-time position as I complete my Masters. At Novae, I am responsible for the creation of all automatic reports, produced through Tableau and other platforms.

Data Analyst (June 2022 - Present) 

​

Responsibilities: 

  • Structure methods and algorithms to automatically analyze data and provide warnings to the business intelligence team

  • Use APIs from different applications and databases to create automated reports in Tableau

  • Establish and work with KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions and use available data to predict future behaviors, analytics, and budgeting

  • Integrate data analysis, visualization, and reporting with Tableau Software, PostgreSQL, and data preparation tools

  • Use graphs, infographics, and other data visualization tools like Tableau and Excel to create automated reports from live data

  • Use SQL and PostgreSQL to create new views in the database and confirm the accuracy of all information from Tableau-generated reports

Achievements:

  • Fully automated the company's main Tableau dashboard reports, saving me at least 1 hour of daily work and enabling management to see an up-to-date dashboard at any point of the day.

  • Streamlined new methods to generate reports for senior teams, such as automatic data acquisition using APIs, python, and selenium.

  • Created multiple automated Tableau dashboards, looking at new KPIs for the company to better analyze data and make better use of its marketing campaigns, revenue analyses, and client understanding. These reports save up to 2 hours of daily work that was previously done manually by different employees.

  • Improved the ETL process of data used in the company using Tableau Prep and AWS glue making reporting process 100% more efficient. 

November 2019 - March 2020

Averi Capital

Working in the Dubai based company, I was able to use my previous experience in emerging markets combining with my engineering expertise to analyze new investment opportunities in developing countries.

Vice President - Investments (March 2020 - February 2021)

Responsibilites: 

  • Analyzed new investments opportunities in emerging markets, especially in Africa.

  • Creation of business plans, financial reports, procurement, and presentations for different large-scale projects such as an oil refinery, transmission lines, a pharmaceutical supplies factory and Oil products terminals.

  • Performed due diligence, analysis, and documentation for potential projects in developing countries.

Achievements:

  • Within less than 2 years, got promoted to Vice-President Investments.

  • Analyzed hundreds of incoming decks and possible investment opportunities, filtering which ones were bankable, resulting in multiple successful projects.

  • Delt with high-profile clients in order to present possible projects and to report on current investments. 

  • Analyzed projects depending on their sectors (Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure or Real Estate) and decided their bankability based on proprietary methods including different factors such as location, project development, and status and finance statements.

  • Lead the company procurement for a 200M+ USD oil refinery construction in Africa, finding multiple companies able to perform the EPC of such a project along with a price indication from each company. 

  • Part of the leading team to procure the financing for an 800M+ USD energy project in Africa.

  • Created multiple financial statements forecasting for the analysis of different projects helping to define the bankability of tens of projects.

Director of Business Development (November 2019 - March 2020)

Responsibilities: 

  • Approached possible clients and was responsible for company and market research in frontier economies.

  • Evaluated new projects to determine their feasibility, risk, and bankability in different markets in Southern and Western Africa.

  • Responsible for website redesign and social media creation for the company.

​

Achievements:

  • Responsible for the analysis of financial statements on investments and projects.

  • Completely recreated the website for the company, creating new content, design, and infrastructure.

  • Designed presentation decks for different projects in order to find proper financing for approved projects.

November 2019 - February 2021

Oiltec

With Oiltec being under the Averi group, I got to work on the beginning of a start up company, developing its own brand of oil lubricants being manufactured in the UAE and distributing across Africa. 

Chief Operating Officer (November 2019 - February 2021)

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the supply and distribution of lubricants in Zambia, Angola, Ghana, Uganda, and Cameroon.

  • Oversaw the listed subsidiaries' CAPEX and OPEX budgets and full operations.

  • Identify and analyze new business opportunities for trading new commodities such as rice, pasta, sugar, and spices to emerging markets.

  • Created and built long-term client relationships and partnerships in emerging markets such as Angola, Ghana, and Zambia.

  • Identify the product lines that would be best suited for each market.

​

Achievements:

  • Built and oversaw a team of 6 people for the product sales, marketing, and administration of the Ghanaian subsidiary of the company, taking the company to the path of profitability in under a year in the Ghanaian market. 

  • Improved the shipping costs of the company by over 20% by choosing better shipping strategies, tailor-made to each market.

  • Part of the team responsible to hire the Zambian and Angolan country managers and sales team.

  • Responsible to oversee the production of all the products, making sure they were manufactured according to specification, formula, and market requirements.

  • Acquired the API certification for our main products in order to show the quality of the lubricants.

  • Managed all the product suppliers in order to keep the supply chain in order and in the correct time.

  • Created and managed the company's website and social media from scratch.

May 2018 - August 2018

College of Engineering - University of Miami

While porsuing my undergrad, I was able to work at the CMOS, MEMS and Bio-Nano research lab with PhD students, learning about the manufacturing and testing of devices.

Undergraduate Research Assistant (May 2018 - August 2018) 

​

Responsibilites and Achievements: 

  • Performed Finite Element Analysis simulations in surface acoustic wave devices for biosensors using COMSOL Multiphysics and interpreted its results.

  • Designed new methods for transporting cells in micro scale and aided in prototype testing for biosensors.

  • Created 3D printed parts in order to help on the testing of the biosensors. 

  • Assisted in production of Biosensors in a clean room environment.

  • Modeled and created 3D animation videos for different devices and projects for presentation and publishing purposes.
